Our Promises, In Writing
Our approach
Ten things we will never do. Published because promises kept in private are just intentions: a promise published is a debt.
Find nonprofits, volunteer opportunities and events near you.
Daanaa exists to help people find nonprofit organizations and volunteer opportunities, and to help organizations, especially small ones, be described truthfully using public records. This charter is the list of things we will never do, written down so that anyone, at any time, can hold us to it.
We also want to help organizations, especially small ones, get tools and opportunities they could not reach alone. We offer none today. Before we show one inside Daanaa, we will change this charter in public and explain who offers it and who gets paid.
What Daanaa will never do
Daanaa does not handle your money.
Daanaa is free to use and does not process payments, gifts or fees of any kind. If you choose to support an organization, you do that on the organization’s own site. Daanaa takes no share of any gift.
We will never sell you anything inside Daanaa.
The platform carries no ads, no sponsored results, no paid placement, no upsells, and no pitches, including for services offered by our own operating company.
We will never use what you give us to sell to you.
Information you send to Daanaa, such as your contact details when you write to us or make a claim, is used to operate Daanaa and for nothing else. Your My Impact notes never reach us. It is not used for marketing, and it is not shared with anyone except the service providers that run Daanaa, who may use it only for that.
We will never sell or share your data.
We share information only with the service providers that run Daanaa, under the same limits and never for marketing. Not to foundations, and not to researchers without your explicit consent, and not in aggregate forms that could identify you. What you record in My Impact stays on your device. We do not store a copy. We count only how many people saved or showed interest in each organization, never who.
Daanaa is free for people and nonprofits.
Discovery, your profile, your dashboard, your peer context, and every core tool we build for nonprofits is free, for the smallest organization on the same terms as the largest. Nothing here will ever depend on buying anything, or on saying yes or no to any offer, and no tool that is free today will be moved into a paid offer. If that ever changes, we will say so publicly first, revise this page in daylight, and explain the change.
We will never let money shape the truth.
No payment, partnership, sponsorship, or relationship can influence any organization’s context, visibility, ranking, or how it is described. The methodology is published; the same math runs for everyone.
We will never shame the organizations we describe.
Our job is context, not verdicts. We show evidence, label uncertainty, and treat a small or struggling organization with the same dignity as a thriving one. Where our data is thin, we say “we don’t know enough,” never “they failed.”
We will never hide our mistakes.
Every organization page carries a visible way to challenge what we say. We review every correction and document it, not overwrite it.
We will never lock you in.
You can download your My Impact notes (as a spreadsheet or a data file) and delete them from this device in Settings whenever you like. My Impact stays on your device. The public record about organizations stays public, because it was never ours.
We will never weaken this charter quietly.
Changes to this document are logged, dated, explained, and announced. Silent dilution of any promise here is a violation of the platform’s founding commitments, and anyone, inside or outside the organization, is entitled to call it out.
What holds this up
Daanaa operates under a Founding Stewardship Commitment, a governing constitution, and a data classification policy that separates what is public from what you have entrusted to us.
Our operating company, EcoMargins Consulting LLC, does professional consulting under its own name, and Daanaa is a name that same company uses. A firewall keeps that business out of what Daanaa holds in trust. Contact details from a claim, the fact that an organization claimed its page, and how anyone uses a dashboard are never used for prospecting, lead scoring, marketing or sales, by that company or anyone else. That business may use public records as anyone can, and says so when it does. Some of this wall is checked automatically in our code. Not all of it is. Our first written review of it was completed on 2026-11-01. It found gaps, and we are closing them. When Daanaa becomes its own legal entity, this charter transfers with it, unchanged.
If you believe we have broken any promise on this page, write to [email protected]. You will get an answer from a human, and if you are right, you will see the correction happen in public.
Charter version 1.1. Version 1.0 was adopted 2026-07-13. Revisions are listed below with date and reason. October 2026: wording clarified before launch (promises 2 to 9). May it stay a short list. See also our About Daanaa page.
Changes
2026-10-19. The Charter text is unchanged in meaning. From today, every change is logged here with its date and the reason for it. Earlier edits before this date were made in place while no one was using the site.
2026-10-25. We added code for a separate visitor measurement tool that does not use cookies and does not identify anyone. It is switched off. Today we keep simple daily counts on our own servers. They cover which pages are viewed, how many searches are made and which buttons are used. They hold no cookie, IP address or identifier. We also keep the words of a search that finds nothing, with no identifier, so we can see what is missing. We will update our privacy page before we turn the separate tool on. The Charter text is unchanged.
2026-10-26. The home page now has a "Happening soon" row showing up to three upcoming events, one per organization, so one organization cannot fill the row. Events that have already happened are hidden. We did this to help visitors find things to do nearby in time. No organization can pay for or influence which events appear. The Charter text is unchanged.
2026-10-26. The preview page that nonprofits see of their own listing now shows the organization name and one clean mission text. It also shows the real source of each piece of information, with stronger text contrast. We did this so organizations can check what we show about them and where it came from, and so the page is easier to read. What the public sees about an organization did not change, and no score or ranking changed. The Charter text is unchanged.
2026-10-26. The footer now links to Daanaa's LinkedIn page and Facebook page. An Instagram link will follow. We added them so people can find us where they already are. Nothing about how Daanaa collects or uses information changed, and the links do not load anything from those sites until you choose to click. The Charter text is unchanged.
2026-10-26. We created Daanaa pages on social media. Daanaa is a free directory run by EcoMargins Consulting LLC (DBA Daanaa), a for-profit company. Those pages follow the same rules as this site: no ratings, no endorsements, and no paid placement. We say this plainly so no one has to guess who is behind them. The Charter text is unchanged.
2026-10-26. Links from an organization's page now go to that organization's own website, labeled "Visit their website", instead of to its giving page. If we do not have an organization's website, we show no link. We made this change because Daanaa does not handle donations and we do not want to look as if we are asking for gifts. The footer now also says plainly that Daanaa is not a charity. The Charter text is unchanged.
2026-10-29. On the Discover page, choosing more than one category now shows organizations that match any of your choices. Before, picking a cause such as Animals together with a category from the list could return nothing, because the page looked for organizations that fit every choice. You can switch to "Match all" for the narrower view. We made this change so a visitor does not land on an empty page after picking two things. It does not change how organizations are ordered, and no payment or partner has any say in what appears. The Charter text is unchanged.
2026-10-29. When a search has a likely typo or is not a direct match, Discover now shows a short row of "Similar searches" under the results, next to the results for exactly what you typed. The suggestions come from the words in our own directory and from the spelling of the search itself. No one can pay to appear in them. We added them so a small spelling slip does not end a visit. The Charter text is unchanged.
2026-10-29. The home page tile that opens the organization list now reads "Find where to give", and the list opened from it says that giving happens on each organization's own site and that Daanaa does not handle money. Organization pages also show up to five lines of an organization's own mission text before "Read more", instead of two. We made these changes so it is clear where to go to give and so more of what an organization says about itself is visible. The Charter text is unchanged.
2026-10-29. The note on the list opened from "Find where to give" now also says that being listed is not an endorsement by Daanaa. Where we say we cannot confirm whether a gift is tax-deductible, we now add that whether a gift is deductible for you depends on your own situation, and point to IRS.gov or a tax professional. We made these changes to help avoid a listing being read as approval or our notes as tax advice. The Charter text is unchanged.
2026-10-31. The note on the list opened from "Find where to give" now says "A listing here is not a recommendation by Daanaa", in place of the earlier "Being listed is not an endorsement by Daanaa". We made this change to say the same thing in plainer words. Where the same event appeared twice for one organization on the same day and time, it now shows once. The Charter text is unchanged.
2026-10-31. When only a few events, needs or organizations show for a place on Discover, the page now ends with a short list of real next steps: look up to 50 miles away, see needs nearby when there are any, see organizations near that city, or open the event calendar. We made this change so a short list does not look like all we know about a city. Nothing is ranked or paid for here. The Charter text is unchanged.
2026-11-01. This entry changes the Charter text. We added a paragraph saying we want to help organizations, especially small ones, reach tools and opportunities, and that we offer none today. We added to promise 5 that nothing here depends on buying anything or on any answer to an offer, and that no free tool will be moved into a paid offer. We rewrote the paragraph about our operating company. It said the firewall was audited quarterly and enforced at the code level. No quarterly audit had been recorded and our code checks cover only part of the firewall, so we removed that claim and said what is true. Our first written review was completed on 2026-11-01 and found gaps we are closing. The paragraph now also says that Daanaa is a name EcoMargins Consulting LLC uses. We also removed the words saying the policy separates data in code. No other promise changed.
